The Castle State and The Way

A mentor and friend asked me how do I walk on when there is so much to see and savour on this walk. Maybe its the promise of something else as equally as beautiful, maybe its the momentum you gain when you find your walking or maybe , sometimes its just to much to take in.

I have been walking through Castle country which has been surreal to see the Muslim and Christian influences on the architecture and some enormous castles. Yesterday and today I have been on what is considered by consensus of the masses the most boring part of the Camino called the Meseta. Which is about 180 KMs between burgos and Leon.

For me its been a relief. I have been drowned in so many things to see and learn over the last 16 days, its nice to just walk the open plains, see fields and windmills and put on my play list of ‘Classical Bangers’.

I have space to breath, time to think and digest all of the things of have seen, the questions I have been asked, examine my expectations of the walk. Anything to ignore the pounding throbbing pain in my feet, which is now as familiar to me as my fingers on my hands.

There are still no small days on The Way. Here are some pics from today and yesterday

Buen Camino!
